The 4th of July is a great family holiday. I love celebrating with the people I care about the most. I love grilling all the yummy food, and then going to see fireworks. There are 8 great events happening in the Houston area, with several of them happening right around us!
Katy Freedom Celebration
When: July 1st at 9 am – 1 pm; Fireworks at 8 pm at Katy Mills Mall
Where: VFW Park- 6202 George Bush Drive
There will be an Open House at the City of Katy Fire Station, and the Katy Heritage Museum, attractions and events will be available for kids and families at VFW Park.
The Katy Freedom Celebration fireworks display will be launched at 8 pm at Katy Mills Mall. This display begins at approximately 9:00pm and can be viewed from several miles around the mall area.
Fulshear Freedom Festival
When: July 2 at 6 pm – 9 pm
Where: Downtown Fulshear
Celebrate freedom with family, friends, and lots of fun. This event features fireworks, food trucks, great music, and a patriotic parade!
La Centerra Independence Day Celebration
When: July 4 at 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Where: La Centerra
LaCenterra’s 4th of July Celebration, Presented by: Texas Children’s Hospital – West Campus is on Tuesday, July 4th at 4:30 p.m. and beginswith a Kids Patriotic Bike Parade located at Central Green Park at LaCenterra. Kids are welcome to participate with their decorated, patriotic bikes. Participants will meet at LaCenterra’s Courtyard at 4:00 p.m. and then parade to Central Green Park. First, second, third and honorable mention place prizes will be given to the “Most Patriotic Bike.” No sign-up is required.
SUNNY 99.1’s Dana Tyson kicks off the main event at 5:30 p.m. There will be live music in the Courtyard, an interactive Kids’ Zone located in Central Green Park, food for purchase and more. The event concludes with a spectacular fireworks display (around 9:15 pm)!
Red, White and Blue Stars and Stripes Festival at Cane Island
When: July 1 at 12 pm – 4 pm
Where: Cane Island Amenity Village
Start your Independence Day weekend with a blast! Join Cane Island as they celebrate with moon bounces, a petting zoo, popcorn, snow cones, face painting, balloon twisters, and more!
CITGO Freedom Over Texas
When: July 4 at 4 pm – 10 pm
Where: Eleanor Tinsley Park in Houston

The Mayor’s Official 4th of July Celebration has been a six hour event of festivities and tradition in Houston, for decades. Located in the newly renovated Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou, it has become Houston’s signature annual Independence Day celebration and attracts nationally recognized recording artists as well as regional and local talent. Hunter Hayes will perform followed by DNCE.
Summer Symphony Nights: Star- Spangled Salute
When: July 4th at 8:30 pm
Where: Miller Outdoor Theater
Celebrate Independence Day with a true Houston tradition at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Featuring patriotic tunes and post-concert fireworks, this year’s Star-Spangled Salute showcases vocalist Ryan Shaw’s soulful sound and the spirited leadership of our new Principal POPS Conductor, Steven Reineke. Plus enjoy favorites like our Service Medley and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
*Free, assigned seat tickets are available at the Miller Theatre Box Office on first-come first-served basis while supplies last between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm on the day of the performance. Only four (4) tickets per person age 16 and up. The box office is located on the northeast corner of the Theatre.
Remaining tickets are given out one hour before before the concert starts. Assigned, ticketed seats will be held until 5 minutes before the performance begins. Any unclaimed seats are then released and distributed.
Hillside seating is free and not ticketed. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.
City Centre Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular
When: July 4 at 7 pm – 10 pm (fireworks starting around 9:30 pm)
Where: City Centre in Memorial/Energy Corridor
The July 4 weekend welcomes four nights of concerts to CITYCENTRE plus an Independence Day fireworks spectacular that you don’t want to miss!
Independence Day and Fireworks in Galveston
When: July 4th at 7:30 pm
Where: Along Seawall Blvd. (from 28th St. to 53rd St.) in Galveston
Galveston Island will celebrate its annual Independence Day parade featuring a procession of floats, decorated military vehicles and performers. The parade will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Seawall Boulevard starting at 59th Street and ending at 22nd Street.
After the parade, the island will host a 20-minute fireworks show over the Gulf of Mexico at 9:15 p.m. near 37th Street and Seawall Boulevard. The Galveston Park Board of Trustees is sponsoring the fireworks display.
