Last Friday, we had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for Katy’s newest park: Exploration Park! This park is amazing, and you will want to be sure and check it out once the rain goes away.
This park is part of Willow Fork Drainage District, which keeps up several parks and trails in the area. The planning team behind Exploration Park put a lot of thought into the design, and you can really tell by all the neat details they have.
Exploration Park is located off of Cinco Park Lane, behind Creech Elementary. They have a nice pavilion for parties and groups. I should point out that they don’t take reservations for any parties, so if you are thinking of having something there, it works on a first come, first served basis.
There is something for everyone here, and I was really impressed with how beautiful the park is! I’ll let the pictures do the talking now:
The have these soft, blue blocks for kids to build towers, bridges, whatever they can imagine. My daughter loved them!
This wooden bridge is actually a musical bridge. Parts of it make sounds.
They have an assortment of swings for kids to try out, including new types of swings I had never seen. One looks like a huge rope, and several people can stand on it at one time to swing back and forth.
Pretty rock trails.
Another view of the big slide and pavilion.
There was also a water cycle wall, and several other areas that I didn’t get pictures of. A few things to note: Since this park is new, there’s not a lot of shade on the play areas, so be sure to bring sunscreen, hats, water, etc. Also, this park is great for all ages. I expect it will be very busy this summer!
When you dry out, be sure to visit Exploration Park
