Hello??? Are you still there??? I feel like the world’s worst blogger…and I probably am. Summer always does this to me. I don’t do well without structure.
School is about to start, and that always signals a “new year” of sorts in my brain. Back to routine. Back to order in my life. Back to early bedtimes, and a few moments to myself during the day to help you out and get you involved in our community.

Katy Summer Tailgate
Saturday, August 12 @ 4 pm at No Label Brewing Co.- Live local music, delicious food, cold drinks, market vendors, a kid’s fun zone, and more. School supplies and backpacks collected, as well as generous donations from the community will benefit the Katy YMCA Operation Backpack. You can get more info and updates here.
Cinco Ranch High
Round Up and Fish Camp- Wednesday, August 9 @ 7:30 am – 3 pm at Cinco Ranch High; Incoming seniors will meet from 7:30 to 9 a.m., juniors from 9 to 10:30 a.m., sophomores from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and freshmen will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Katy High School Color Guard Spin and Toss
Thursday, August 10 @ 10 am – 4 pm at Katy High School; Kids can come learn how to spin and toss a flag just like the members of the Katy High School Color Guard. First through fourth-graders will be from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m., and fifth through eighth-graders will be from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. All attendees are then invited back to perform their routines at 8:00pm that evening at the Katy Tiger Band Showcase performance. WFDD Backyard Garden Insects Event
Saturday, August 12 @ 9 am – 12 pm at Willow Fork Park (north of Cinco Ranch High); Meet with Texas Master Gardeners to learn about the role insects such as Butterflies, Bees, Hunters and Pests play in your garden. We will have displays, live specimens, plant suggestions, activities and Entomology presenters to show, tell and teach. This is a family–friendly program for all ages.
COMING SOON: Gymboree Parachute Play Time- Wednesday, August 16 @ 10 am – 12 pm at Heritage Square.
Reading Camp on the Green– Tuesday, August 8 @ 10 am – 11 am at Central Green; The reading camp will involve a number of tasks that will create a wonderful learning environment for the children. From word and color hunts to using the outdoors to act out their favorite books; the reading camp is definitely a great way to encourage a love for books in young minds and hearts. To enjoy this activity your child needs a picnic blanket, one of his/her favorite books and lots of imagination.
Homeschool Spanish on the Green– Friday, August 11 @ 10 am at Central Green; The Home School Classes have grown! Conversational Spanish is now being taught the second Friday and last Friday of the month at 9am. This class is free for all school age children and adults.
Live Music- Friday, August 11 @ 7:45 pm at Central Green; Come out and hear the music of Blackwater Roll!
Outdoor Movie Night- Saturday, August 12 @ dusk at Central Green; Bring your chairs and blankets and come enjoy Moana!

Preschool Playhouse- Tuesday, August 8 @ 9:30 am – 11 am; Create your own inspirational masterpiece by using fruits and vegetables to paint! Plus, enjoy singing, dancing, story time and sparkle dough.
Family Night- Tuesday, August 8 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm; Show off your muscles with Orangetheory Fitness Cinco Ranch by making your own SPLAT and rolling their fitness dice. Plus, enter to win giveaways and a raffle. Complimentary face painting and balloon animals by Sweet Honey the Clown.
